Scents tend to develop in 3 stages, with a combination of ingredients that allow different aromas to be released at different times. In traditional reed diffuser perfumery, a fragrance is divided into top notes, the heart and the base notes.
Top Notes - These are generally radiant and fresh, introducing the fragrance and the reason why you will immediately love the smell. The first act of the fragrance, the top notes allow you to form immediate memories based on what scent you are introduced to.
The Heart - The signature scent of the fragrance, The Heart brings out the complexity of the fragrance and can include opulent flowers, fresh herbs, elegant woody notes and defiant spices. These are often the scents that we smell in the air when a candle is burning or when a reed diffuser has been left to mellow.
The Base Notes - The warm and rich undertones that provide the conclusion to the fragrance. These notes bring the creaminess and body to the candle or reed diffuser. The base notes are what we smell in the background and after a candle has been lit or diffuser scent is lingering. Scents include precious woods, sensual musks, mysterious ambers and exotic resins.
Always ensure you handle your reed diffuser with care to prevent spills and ensure your bottle or reeds are always placed on a protected purface as fragrance oil can damage or stain furniture and fabric.
