Curtains: Page 2
Essential for completing any living space, at Downtown you can find a fantastic range of ready-made Curtains in a range of styles and finishes. A pair of curtains not only controls light and assures privacy but also has a large impact on the style of your room.
Before you make your curtain purchase, make sure you do all of your measurements. For the best performance, your curtain track or pole should be positioned 15cm (6") higher than the window, and be wider than your window by 15-20cm (6-8") either side. Make sure when using a curtain pole, only measure the length of the pole and not the decorative pieces at the end.
After you have the length of your curtain track or pole, you can consider what size curtains you need. For a soft, gathered look when your curtains are closed, multiply your pole or track length by two for pencil pleat or eyelet curtains. For tab top, multiply by 1.5. If you want a bit more length, add an extra 2.5cm (1") to the measurement which will allow your curtains to overlap.
Throughout our online range we have a variety of timeless designs that you can choose from to complement your home, all available in an assortment of lengths to suit your living space. Where possible we will always look to include any information about the collection, including matching tiebacks and cushions for a complete soft furnishing set. For more specific use, we also list care information including how curtains can be cleaned and whether they can be ironed, as well as what fabric they are made out of and the interior lining.
If you are still struggling to decide on your new purchase or are unsure about how much size you have available across your windows, check out our measuring guide, which features regularly on our curtain products; complete with a guide on how to measure your curtain width, tracks, poles, curtain width and how to create that perfect overlap in the middle of your window space.
And if you are local to our stores, make sure you visit our experts at our Downtown Grantham Superstore or Downtown Boston Furniture Store, where you can also explore our further range of made-to-order curtains.
