Benefits of getting a good night's sleep
We all know that feeling after a long day of getting to bed and drifting off, but are you getting enough sleep? Find some ideas on how to improve your sleep and feel well-rested after a long day.
Research shows that a whopping ¾ of us Brits don’t get the recommended 7 hours of sleep per night. A night of bad sleep can lead to you not only feeling tired but struggling to concentrate, as well as low mood. Just like exercising and maintaining a healthy diet, sleep is essential to looking after your physical and mental wellbeing.
Here are some ideas on how to improve your sleep and feel well-rested after a long day:
- Stick to the same bedtime and wake up time.
- Allow downtime - restrict your blue light intake a few hours before bed, pop your phone away or on charge and pick up a book.
- Take a bath or use relaxation techniques to help to get your body ready for a better night’s sleep.
- Block out exterior noises and light – try using blackout blinds or room darkening shades.
- Use earplugs, white noise sounds or a fan to create an environment that suits your needs.
- Avoid caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. These drinks can play havoc with sleep, as can being over full or hungry. Avoiding heavy meals an hour or so before bed will help with a longer rest period.
- Get out in the fresh air. Getting out in the fresh air can help greatly with a fulfilled sleep.
We are all different sleepers, so we will all need something different to sleep on...Let’s start with the mattress….
Pocket sprung mattresses are perfect if you or your partner toss and turn at night - each pocket spring is enclosed within its own cloth sleeve, which reduces the chance of disturbing one another when you move and promotes a more restful night’s sleep. Because of the individual pocket springs, it holds its own, consistent tension that creates an even level of firmness across the whole mattress. Pocket sprung mattresses are perfect for total body support.
Foam mattresses give a wonderful, soft feel. The foam ‘hugs’ your body and the material feels soft and luxurious whilst also offering great support. With an excellent price range from entry-level to ultra-luxury, a foam mattress is the perfect option for any budget. They are also an ideal option for side sleepers.

We all love to get under the duvet after a long day but do we know which tog rating works for us?
A tog rating describes the level of warmth the duvet offers - the higher the tog, the warmer you’ll be. Usually, the choice is to change your duvet throughout the season - using a 4.5 tog for the summer months and, in the winter, using a thicker quilt like a 15 tog. However, advances in technology have created an all-season duvet which is in the range of 10 - 13.5 tog. This is perfect if you are sharing a bed, as the heat from another person adds to the warmth.
Our range of duvets will assist you with getting a good night’s sleep.
If you’re looking for something easy to wash with perfect quality every time, Spundown is best. Amazing Smartfil® fibres make this duvet highly compressible, allowing you to fit it with ease into your washing machine. Ideal for allergy sufferers, it can be washed at 60°C (the temperature that kills dust mites), for great protection and freshness you'll love.
If you need a duvet that is clever enough to help regulate your temperature, the Breathe duvet is perfect. With a blend of Smartfil® technology and a special ingredient called Modal, which is made from natural wood pulp, it offers exceptionally breathability. The Modal element helps to wick the moisture away from your body, allowing you to sleep in comfort.
